The reality of life is that your perceptions – right or wrong – influence everything else you do.
The world is nothing but our perception of it. I see only through myself. I hear only through the filter of my story.
I believe that art is a reflection of who we are as a person and artist. It is a culmination of ones experiences and exposure to life.
I’ve always felt that people love art, not because of what an artist says or believes. After all the only thing that really matters is what the viewer sees and feels about a painting – and as soon as that painting is sold it is no longer a part of the artist’s world, art becomes a part of the owner …. a reflection of them.
I’m not interested in the artist’s philosophy, their perceived popularity or academic status. I’m interested in what their work whispers, not what they “officially state”.
I resist efforts by others to turn me into a book keeper, a politician or a salesman, it gets in the way of inspiration. The quality of expression becomes dimmed when walking in lock-step with the demands of the status quo.
So get on to the artwork, perhaps you’ll find one that speaks to you.
